README file is for the Virtuoso Analog Simulation Techniques Course using IC613
and MMSIM70. This software will only run on Solaris 10 or Red Hat EE4.0.

Course Developer:

Ray Parry
Cadence Design Systems

Software Required:

Virtuoso Analog Simulation Techniques requires the install of:
    IC6.1.3
    MMSIM7.0

Licenses:
    VSE L, XL
    ADE L, L, GXL + tokens
    MMSIM + tokens

Course install:

Copy and untar the VirtAnaSimTech_6_1_3 database to the login directory (user52 or whatever).
In a Cadence classroom, you should automatically be changed to the AnaSimTech
directory.

Environment setup:

The AnaSimTech directory contains a cshrc_ana (or kshrc_ana) file which
contains the variables:
CDSHOME pointing to the install directory for IC613, and
MMSIMHOME which points to the install directory for MMSIM70

These paths will need to be modified
for the installed software, and added to the login .cshrc or .kshrc file,
or sourced before starting lab.

source cshrc_ana (or . kshrc_ana)

It also includes path statments to netscape.
It also sets the netlisting mode to analog, which is necessary for AMS.

If an editor is set in your .cshrc file, comment out the line.

Checking the install:

Run the .testscript file to properly test and install the
course before teaching it. It should report PASSED
without any errors.

Lecture Slides:

PDFs of the lecture slides can be accessed from the ESD homepage.
I recommend using the trans_all version, because some of the notes
pages are useful to display for emphasis or more detail.

Instructor Guide:

A detailed instructor guide is available to assist you in
teaching this course, which can be accessed from the ESD homepage.
Be sure and get the guide named AnaSimTech_6_1_3.ig.htm

If you have any comments or corrections on the course or the install
or problems with any of the labs, please let me know.
