Removing the front brake master cylinder
Warning
Critical safety components. The brake master cylinder manufacturer recommends that you do not attempt to service the internal components of the brake master cylinder. Incorrect overhaul of these critical safety components can endanger rider safety.
Maintenance operations on these units are limited to replacing: control lever, reservoir unit and reservoir and cylinder fasteners.
When fitting a new hose between the master cylinder and the caliper, care must be taken to position the connectors on the cylinder and the transmission unit at the correct angles.
Warning
Incorrectly positioned hoses can cause brake faults and interfere with moving parts. See proper position shown in figure.

Unscrew the U-bolt (8) retaining screws (9) then remove front brake master cylinder unit (1) from handlebar.
Please refer to the exploded view at the beginning of this section for indications on disassembly of master cylinder (1) components.
When refitting the hoses, be sure to fit the seals (4) to the connector (3) and tighten the connector to the specified torque (Sect. C 3, Coppie di serraggio mototelaio).
Refitting the front brake master cylinder
Fit complete master cylinder body (1) U-bolt (8); use centring dowel to ensure it is positioned correctly.
Tighten the U-bolt (8) retaining screws (9) to the specified torque (Sect. C 3, Frame torque settings) working in a 1-2-1 sequence.
If hose (19) has been disturbed, follow indications as specified under Sect. G 3, Refitting the front brake system.
